Nurses¡¯ Attitudes toward Life Sustaining Medical Treatments

Abstract
This study was conducted to compare and analyze the different types of attitudes nurses have toward life sustaining medical treatments that delay end-of-life. This study was designed utilizing a Q-methodology approach. The sample size of the study was 25 nurses. The Q-sample employed in this research included 30 statements. After understanding the methods and purpose of this research, the nurses filled out the sociodemographic information on the survey. The data was then distributed in a 9 scale Q-sample. The statistics were processed using a QUANL PC program. Finally, the nurses¡¯ attitudes were seperated into four different types: ¡®transfer of self-determination¡¯, ¡®preference of life sustainable treatment¡¯, ¡®respect of self-determination¡¯, and ¡®recommendation of advanced directive¡¯
